What Can You Expect From Freelancing Dynamo?

Contact Freelancing Dynamo for any (or all!) of the services listed here, or if you have a specialized project that requires my assistance.
Because each job is so different, I’m loath to list prices for services. Working for myself allows me to take jobs that truly interest me, to be worked on at the client’s pace. The pace and scope of each project, in turn, will help me to tailor my prices to each client’s individual needs. That said, below I do list the most common services I provide. I find my clients tend to think they need service A, but when we talk, find they need a little from columns B or E as well. Those that buy straight services find that my prices are quite competitive in the San Diego market.
Proofreading
Proofreading is usually the last step a piece of writing undergoes before publication. Here, the reader identifies spelling and grammar errors, margin and spacing issues, and other typesetting-related issues. As a proofreader, I MAY notice issues related to continuity or factual information–I will call it to the author’s attention if I do–but that is not a requirement of this service; this service is related to copyediting.
Research (Searching, Reading, and Compilation)
I LOVE to do research. There is almost nothing I love to do more than sink my teeth into a topic and read as much about it as possible, learning every single fact I can and delivering that information to another person. Need some help fact finding for that dissertation or that article for a peer-reviewed journal? Putting off that Internet search for the obscure medical condition your fictional character has suffered from for years? You’ve found the woman who will get you the pertinent points you needed and the minutiae you’ll dread hearing. I will compile this information into a format that will make it easily accessible while you are writing (most likely in the form of an outline and an annotated bibliography. If applicable, I will use the citation style required for your research).
Copyediting
Copyediting is an essential part of the writing process. As you develop your drafts, a good, constructive reviewer can provide the tools you need to communicate your thoughts most effectively. As your copyeditor, I check your spelling and grammar, but also make sure that you are consistent in voice and tone throughout your work. I will flag inconsistencies I find. I fact check and ensure that proper citation style is followed (where applicable).
Developmental Editing
As your developmental editor, I perform all the duties of a copyeditor, but I am even more invested in your work. Here, I am looking at the big picture. I will help you with the overall structure of your work, ensuring that you are consistent with the voice you may have established elsewhere. I’ll invest in research so that I am keyed into your topic (yes, even if you’re writing fiction). I will not just flag internal inconsistencies, I will suggest rewrites for problem areas (and I may direct you to sources). I will be your personal resource throughout the entire writing and editing process.
Writing-All Types
Writing is my true passion, and I love to work on pieces of different lengths and all formats. I learn so much during the course of my work! I’ve written everything from guest blog posts to book and museum reviews to a peer-reviewed journal article in a scientific journal. No assignment is too small–from pulling together your Tinder blurb to ghostwriting your memoir, my fingers are ready to start working for you. And yes, I know all about SEO keywords. 🙂
